Reintroducing ROTC for senior high school students is intended to “is to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize the students for national defense preparedness” as well as emergency readiness, according to Marcos Jr.

Following the d*ath of University of Santo Tomas student Mark Wilson Chua, who reportedly passed away at the hands of his ROTC handlers after complaining regarding corruption within the organization, the required ROTC program was discontinued in 2002.

According to the article, in addition to the ROTC, Pres. Marcos also desires the National Service Training Program to be restored (NSTP). He wants to mandate NSTP and ROTC for students in Grades 11 and 12.

With 31 million votes, he had a significant lead over his opponents in the presidential race and won by a landslide in the elections of 2022.
