In Game 2 of their best-of-three championship series in the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament, College of Saint Benilde shall aim to win it all against three-time defending champion Arellano University on Friday.

At 2:00 p.m., CSB and Arellano will compete in a 1-0 series lead. the Lady Chiefs are attempting to win their fourth consecutive championship, and the Lady Blazers are hoping to halt their dynastic run.

But against a threatening Arellano team out to avenge a 3-0 sweep defeat in Game 1, which CSB won with ease, 25-21, 25-11, and 25-10, it won’t let its guard down.

“Work lang naman, tuloy-tuloy lang hangga’t hindi natatapos, wala pa rin naman eh. Three sets pa, one game pa,” stated CSB head coach Jerry Yee.

“‘Di pa tapos.”

CSB is aiming to win its second volleyball championship after defeating San Sebastian College-Recoletos in Season 91 in 2016 under Finals MVP Jeanette Panaga.

Arellano, however, is not going down without a fight.

From Season 92 all the way until Season 94, the Lady Chiefs held the throne.
Despite their high ambition of regaining the championship, Arellano champion coach Obet Javier says his team must learn to play without fear and pressure.

When asked what they need to work on for Game 2, Javier replied, “Katulad nung ginawa namin last time, nung last practice namin, ‘yung receive. Actually, two days kaming nag-practice sa receive and maganda naman sana,”

“Kaso, sabi ko nga, kahit anong galing mo, ‘pag sinamahan mo ng takot at kaba, mawawala at mawawala.”

Game 2 will immediately follow the livestreamed NCAA women’s volleyball awards presentation for Season 97.
