Aespa’s ‘Girls’ becomes the Most pre-ordered Album by a K-pop Female Group

The upcoming new album by rising rookie band aespa has garnered the biggest preorders of any album by a K-pop girl group, with more than 1.61 million copies, according to its agency on Friday, July 8.

According to SM Entertainment, the band’s second EP, “Girls,” which is due to be released at 1 p.m., had received 1,610,517 preorders as of Friday morning.

The EP includes the title track “Girls,” as well as English and Korean versions of “Life’s Too Short,” the band’s debut English-language single, which was pre-released on June 24. Other new songs include “Illusion,” “Lingo,” and “ICU,” as well as the band’s past successes: “Black Mamba,” “Forever,” and “Dreams Come True.”

“We were surprised and happy to hear the news that preorders for our second EP ‘Girls’ have exceeded 1.61 million copies,” aespa said through its agency. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we will be aespa that shows better music and performances in the future.”

On Monday night, aespa will offer a live performance of the album’s music and interact with fans via its YouTube and TikTok accounts.
