A netizen resorted to social media to voice her displeasure when her folded fresh P1000 polymer banknote was refused at a business. The 1000-Piso polymer banknotes were released in April of this year.

According to reports, the central bank will distribute 10 million polymer banknotes in the 1000-Piso denomination this quarter to gauge market acceptability of polymer-based cash.

The banknotes are sturdy, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and will last 2 to 5 times stronger than paper banknotes.

The quality of polymer banknotes may be kept by treating them properly and rigorously restricting the following:

  • Folding or crumpling the banknote excessively
  • repairing polymer banknotes
  • Exposed polymer banknotes to high temperatures or proximity to an open flame
  • To keep the polymer banknotes together, staple them or use rubber bands.

Reylen Lopez, it appears, has failed to fold her new P1000 banknote.

She was scheduled to use it as payment at a well-known business, but the management refused to take it due to its state, according to her.

“”Wag na Po kayu mag ipon ng bagong 1k! Bawal daw I fold o tupiin as per SM Management..I-pang babayad q sana to, Hindi nila tinanggap..Bawal daw tupiin..Hindi kami na inform (emoji)… Aq lang ba Hindi nakakaalam? Haisst (emoji).”

The netizen’s message has gone viral, sparking responses from other netizens.
