The Atom Araullo Specials offers a topical and important documentary on how and why internet sėxual abuse and exploitation of minors has expanded and become a silent pandemic this Sunday (June 26). Child abusers and sėxual predators with skulking eyes lurk in the darkest corners of the internet. A year ago, the Atom Araullo Specials team began collaborating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on an operation to rescue two young siblings who were victims of online sėxual abuse of minors, or OSEC.

This is only one of many examples of the long-standing, widespread, and ever-changing form of child sėxual exploitation. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Philippines has become the worldwide epicenter of the streaming sėxual abuse trade of children.

Peter Scully was one of the country’s most renowned accused predators. Scully was convicted of trafficking and r@pe by a Cagayan de Oro court in 2018. A foreign citizen was detained in Cagayan de Oro City last year after m0lesting more than 90 youngsters. Atom travels to the metropolis to explore the horrors brought about by these predators.

Cases of internet child sėx abuse have increased in the middle of the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the PNP, children are more vulnerable during “quarantine” or “lockdown,” with a 264 percent rise in cybersėx activities as the country tackles the epidemic, with others resorting to “easy money” involving youngsters owing to poverty.
