Amber Heard is reportedly in financial trouble since her present financial status may not be adequate to cover the damages she must pay ex-husband Johnny Depp after a defamation trial ruled harshly against her.

Amber Heard says she felt 'less than human' during trial, but stands by 'every word' of her testimony

A five-man, two-woman jury awarded Depp $15 million (P820.7 million) in damages, but Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, claims the actress does not have the money to cover such costs.

According to reports, Heard earned an estimated $10 million between 2013 and 2019 through her work on films and sponsorships — even if she didn’t spend any of that money, paying for the damages would bankrupt her.

One option for Heard is to sell a present from Tesla and Space X creator Elon Musk, whom she briefly dated in 2017, shortly after her divorce from Depp.

The present in question is a fully-loaded Tesla Model X, an electric automobile with a peak speed of 250km/h, a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 2.1 seconds, and a range of 628km on a single charge. The Tesla Model X is valued at $130,000 in the market.

Another example is Heard’s reliance on the box office performance of her next picture “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” in which she may get a percentage of the film’s profits in addition to the income she now receives.

Her involvement in the film, however, has been fraught with controversy, with reports that her screentime was drastically reduced, and many have urged for her character as Meera to be replaced.

The jury in the slander lawsuit awarded Heard $2 million in damages, but the actress still faces a financial uphill struggle.
