The National Board of Canvassers suspends the session as it awaits vote transmission. It will resume on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 1 p.m.

Only the NBOC’s official processes remain stopped, according to Comelec. This comprises the official tally and culminates with the announcement of Senate and party-list victors. However, transmission of election results and canvassing at the local/provincial level will continue.

After criticism, Comelec amends rule on substitution of bets

Due to late transmission of ballots, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered the postponement of the en banc session for canvassing votes, according to Comelec chairman Saidamen Pangarungan on Monday, May 9, 2022. Commissioner Aimee Ferolino stated that the canvass would resume on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

“The en banc through the chair, declared the early suspension since hindi pa naman talaga magta-transmit ‘yung ating mga VCMs (vote counting machines) and the report from VCMs will still have to pass the NBOC (National Board of Canvassers) and the PBOC,” she said in a press conference.

“So remember na magco-close ang voting generally by 7 p.m. so after that tsaka palang magka-count, so there is no point waiting kasi wala pa naman talaga kaming marerecieve na results, that is why we will resume tomorrow pag meron nang mata-transmit to the NBOC,” she added.

De Leon previously stated that the electoral process in Tubaran began late due to disagreements among candidates and a delay in the delivery of ballots, and that the PNP, along with other security forces such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard, was well prepared for these eventualities. However, Brigadier General Jose Maria Cuerpo, commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, claimed there is already a plan to declare the election a failure in 14 barangays in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur, which was among the first regions placed under Comelec authority owing to threats during the vote.
