The amateur bout between Jimuel Pacquiao and Jonathan Barajas took place on Friday (Manila time) in the Fight Night Series in Montebello, California.
The oldest son of retired eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, showed his enhanced fundamentals and strong combinations all through the fight by going to the head and body.
Jimuel chose to remain in the United States even during the campaign season to train and focus on his boxing career, which is being managed by Hall of Famer Freddie Roach and Filipino trainer Marvin Somodio.
Apart from receiving boxing instructions from his father and Roach, Jimuel was also given the opportunity to train in Los Angeles with the current pound-for-pound king, Canelo Alvarez.
Of course, Jimuel also trained with well-known Filipino trainers such as Joven Jimenez, the longtime trainer of former International Boxing Federation super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas.
It was his second victory after defeating Andres Rosales on his debut in the United States.
Pacquiao aspires to continue following in his father’s footsteps, who went to boxing superstardom as the world’s only 8-division boxing champion.
