President Rodrigo Roa Duterte made his statement on the charges of election fraud in May 2022. On election day, some vote-counting machines malfunctioned, and there were reports of voters waiting in line for hours while the devices were repaired. On the eve of election day, partial and unofficial voting had hit more than 60% of the total votes cast.

There have been claims of election fraud in 2022. According to a report, outgoing Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has requested that the Comelec examine the malfunctioning VCMs used during the election.

In the Philippines, an automated election took place. The election commission has prepared around 106,000 vote-counting machines. The machines undergo inspection and sealing. The poll body confirmed “all systems go” two days before the election.

Comelec also stated that they are ready in the event that difficulties with the VCMs occur. The poll body highlighted that there will be no election failures due to the machines.

According to President Duterte has not seen any signs of electoral fraud and would not tolerate it. To relieve some people’s concerns, the President has asked the election commission to undertake an investigation and report back to the public.

“Ibigay sa tao kung ano ang nangyari,” President Duterte stated.

The elections in May 2022 are now over. Millions of Filipinos cast ballots in local and national elections on May 9. Prior to the election, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has developed an online site accessible for voters to monitor their voting precincts.

According to the preliminary and unofficial results of the 2022 elections, former Senator Bongbong Marcos is the presidential frontrunner. The vice-presidential candidacy is being led by his running mate, presidential daughter and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
