On Tuesday, presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed concern over potential destabilization and electoral fraud in the 2022 national and local elections. Marcos Jr. also expressed concern about possible electoral fraud on all levels in May, stating he was a victim of such fraud during the 2016 vice presidential election. Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales warned earlier this month that if Marcos is elected president, the Philippines might face “destabilization.”

Marcos said that if he were to win the president in May, his opponents would be the ones to cause instability.

“Should I win, will my supporters destabilize? So if there’s going to be destabilization, it will come from them. Not from us. Nanalo na eh. Bakit namin sisirain, diba?” Marcos stated. “That’s a funny assertion to make by them.”

Despite the Supreme Court’s junking of his election complaint in February of last year, the former senator made the claim.

Marcos stated “Alam naman ninyo nabiktima na ako niyan noong 2016.” “Kaya siyempre kailangan maingat diyan.”

Former senator Ping Lacson, on the other hand, raised concerns about such a possibility, calling such talk “gossip.”

“Siyempre, alam mo at this stage of the election, at this stage of the campaign, ang dami nang chismis. Si ganito may ginagawa, gumagalaw yung mga sundalo dito, o yung ganitong grupo ganito yung ginagawa,” he stated.
