Police Major Orlyn Leyte arrested and face charges of robbery and extortion

Police Major Orlyn Leyte, Officer in-Charge of Police Station 9, Zamboanga City Police Station and other police officers were arrested in the entrapment operations conducted by the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group or (IMEG).

Around 6:45 pm on March 22, Leyte and PSSg Hegenio Salvador, PSSg Asser Abdulkadim, PCpl Ismael Sasapan and PCpl Juman Araban were arrested.

According to a statement from the Philippine News Agency, Leyte allegedly received Php90,000 from a businesswoman for alleged involvement in illegal drug -related activities.

Apart from the aforementioned cases, additional cases such as Violation of RA 3019 Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and RA 6713 Code of Conduct as well as the Ethical Standard for Public Officials and Employees are being prepared.

They are now under custody at the Zamboanga City Police Office, Ylagan said.

“The PNP will not tolerate personnel engaging in any unlawful and illegal acts. Officers must serve as role model to their subordinates,” Eleazar said.

The five arrested PNP personnel will be placed under Automatic Leave of Absence while under detention, Eleazar said.
