The actress’ messages reflect her frustration over the government’s response to extending aid to the poor in the midst of the pandemic. She said that it is easy to say that people should stay at home for as long as there is food on the table and money to pay bills.

General community quarantine (GCQ) is now being implemented in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces due to the re-spike of COVID-19 cases in the country.

According to her Twetter posts, “My heart bleeds for all the people who cannot afford not to go out and work. They literally have to choose between dying of starvation or dying of covid. Is our country really this poor to no be able to provide stimulus?? Genuine question lang po.”

The “stimulus” Liza refers to is the stimulus check.

In America, it is the financial assistance provided by the government to taxpayers as their expenditure to stimulate the economy.

“America has received 2 rounds of stimulus already, waiting on the 3rd. Covid testing is free, vaccination is free. Where is the support for the poor in our country? Madali lang naman po mag stay at home if everyone has food on the table and money to pay the bills,” she said.
