5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Cataingan (Masbate) on November 30, 2020

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) and NDRRMC announce a 5.1 magnitude earthquake that hits Cataingan (Masbate) on November 30, 2020.

The location of the 5.1 magnitude earthquake is 11.91°N, 124.06°E – 012 km S 37° E of Cataingan (Masbate). The depth of Focus is 010 kilometers and the Origin is Tectonic.

According to the source, there are no casualties have been reported. People must aware of aftershocks. If needed proceed to the nearest evacuation centers.

PHILVOLCS, says “We cannot predict when or where an earthquake or tsunami will happen. What we do is prepare earthquake scenarios of hazards and impacts to be used as a guide for mitigation, preparedness, and response.”
