PAGASA released the latest updates of the weather in the Philippines as of September 17, 2020. Leon, Habagat To Bring Cloudy Skies, Rains Over Parts Of Philippines.
The morning forecast from the state weather bureau says that Tropical Storm Leon and southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Caraga, Aurora, and Quezon.
According to GMA News, Leon maintained its strength while slightly accelerating over the West Philippine Sea.
The bureau did not issue any tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS). However, it said that Habagat will bring moderate to heavy rains over Aurora, Palawan (including Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands), Mindoro Provinces, and Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, eastern Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Mindanao, and the rest of Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, and Visayas will face light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains.
Based on the report, a gale warning is currently in effect over the western seaboards of Palawan (Kalayaan Islands), Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, and Pangasinan, and the seaboard of Zambales as they face rough to very rough seas, hence, sea travel is risky there.
The rest of the country will face moderate to rough seas. The bureau warned those with small seacrafts to take precaution when venturing out to sea.
The bureau warned that flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall.
Leon will still head west northwestward as it is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.
The cyclone is also expected to turn more westward Thursday afternoon or evening and will make landfall over northern or central Vietnam on Friday afternoon or evening.
Leon might enhance into severe tropical storm category within 24 hours and peak intensity on Friday.
It is last spotted at 330 kilometers west-northwest of Coron, Palawan and is packed with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour/
