Kapuso hunk actor Derek Ramsay revealed that he was rushed to the hospital after looking directly at the ultraviolet (UV) light while fixing it.

In an interview with the GMA talk show “Mars Pa More” Derek revealed that he was rushed to the ER after experiencing too much pain in his eyes in the middle of the night that he couldn’t open his eyes.

According to the actor, he decided to fix the UV light after he saw that it is flickering. They used the UV light for disinfecting things.

His girlfriend, actress Andrea Torres, reminded him not to look straight at the UV light but he quickly looked at it. He said that the incident happened at 7 in the evening. However, in the middle of the night, he couldn’t open his eyes.

“Around 2 a.m. hindi ko na maidilat ‘yung mata ko. Talagang they were burning, eh ayoko naman siyang gisingin,” Derek said.

“I went to the bathroom, naghugas ako ng mata. It got worse. Then it just got worse and worse, so napilitan na akong gisingin si Andrea, at tinakbo na ako sa ospital,” he added.

Meanwhile, the experts reminded us all that UVC radiation can cause severe burns (of the skin) and eye injuries (photokeratitis) and it could cause pain, temporary blurring, irritation, and redness swelling.

Derek and Andrea’s romance started from being on-screen partners in the GMA Network primetime series The Better Woman. In an interview, the couple said that they are now ready to take their relationship to the next level.
