Emeritus Archbishop Oscar Cruz died today August 26, 2020 at around 6:45 in the morning at the Cardinal Santos Hospital, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines confirmed his death in the Twitter account.

Archbishop Oscar Cruz is one of the Filipino prominent religious leaders in the country as he led the CBCP in 2009 prior to his retirement. He was also appointed in Manila as auxiliary bishop in 1976. Another appointment assigned to him after two years serving in the Catholic Church in Manila he was then appointed in San Fernando for more than 10 years.

Sometime in the year 1991, Oscar Cruz was appointed as archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan.

According to the CBCP, Archbishop Oscar Cruz died due to lingering illness at the good age of 85-years-old.

Catholic followers has expressed condolences on Twitter, “May you find peace in the eternity.”
