BACOLOD CITY – COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City is continue increasing after the quarantine protocol lowered down to Modified General Community Quarantine.

The city has recorded 378 confirmed cases as of yesterday, with 281 active cases, 89 recovered patients and 8 death toll.

Recently, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of the city’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19 has confirmed that a supervisor of a BPO company in the city of Bacolod died due to the COVID-19 disease. Before the victim passed away, health department confirmed that the mother and one co-agent contracted the disease and tested positive.

Because of this, Familiaran called an emergency virtual meeting on Monday evening, August 10, 2020 with City Mayor Evelio Leonardia together with the representatives of BPO companies in the city in order to address the said COVID-19 case.

Familiaran also wrote letter to the management of the BPO companies in the city of Bacolod to strictly observe and follow health protocols for the protection of their employees.

The chairman of the IATF Bacolod did not mention the name of the BPO where the said COVID case took place. But concerned netizens Alex Meneses and BangtanHolic hinted on their post on the Facebook page of “Bacolod CHO – Health Promotion” requesting authorities to investigate the Panasiatic Solution for the said COVID case resulting to the death of the supervisor as mention by the Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.

According to Alex Meneses on the FB post, “Panasiatic management still had the gall to keep on downplaying and in fact employing news blackout all in the name of Profit at the expenses of its Frontliners. While the higher-ups are still taking the situation as Normal,” Meneses wrote.
