DOH Confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 74,611 as of August 29, 2020

August 29, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 213,131. Of the confirmed cases, 74,611 (35.0%) are active cases, 135,101 (63.4%) have recovered and 3,419 (1.6%) have died.

DOH notes: Of the 3,637 reported cases today, 3,063 (84%) occurred within the recent 14 days (August 16 – August 29, 2020). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (1,648 or 54%), Region 4A (560 or 18%) and Region 3 (222 or 7%).Of the 94 deaths, 81 occurred in August (86%), 12 in July (13%) and 1 in June (1%). Deaths were from NCR (54 or 57%), Region 4A (16 or 17%), Region 3 (14 or 15%), Region 6 (4 or 4%), Region 9 (3 or 3%), Region 7 (1 or 1%), and Unknown (1 or 1%).

There were 50 duplicates that were removed from the total case count. Of these, 16 recovered cases have been removed.

DFA reports five new cases among Filipinos abroad, raising the total infected to 10,067. Twenty eight more recovered, bringing the number of survivors to 6,123 while the death toll stays at 755.
