Negros Oriental Records 9 New COVID-19 Cases as of June 1

The provincial government of Negros Oriental announces on Monday, June 1, 2020 that there are another recorded new COVID-19 cases in the province.

According to the report from the Facebook page of “Yes The Best Dumaguete” the nine (9) new cases are from fishermen from abroad from “Philip D.R. vessel that arrived in the province last May 17, 2020 from which tests result return positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19 pandemic.

The new 9 cases of COVID-19 recorded this week brings the total of 11 in Negros Oriental.

According to Dr. Liland Estacion, the new nine patients are asymptomatic and the government has arranged quarantine facilities for the patients to be transferred and monitored 24/7 if there are changes on their health condition.

Report confirmed that the 11 patients are from different areas in province which seven (7) are residents of Negros Oriental, two (2) are from Cebu Province, three (3) from La Libertad, two (2) from Tanjay City, two (2) from Bindoy, one (1) from Sibulan, one (1) from Ayungon, one (1) from Santander, Cebu and one (1) from Samboan, Cebu.

However, Estacion noted that there is no local transmission among the new cases because they contracted the virus from abroad from Philip D.R. vessel and not in island of Negros.

The captain of the vessel, Philip D.R. reportedly earlier that he was diagnosed and tested positive of COVID-19 and later died in Manila.

As of today, the global coronavirus cases rise up to 6,268,146 and death toll of 373,980. While in the Philippines is having a total case of 18,086 with death tool of 957 as of writing.
