President Rodrigo Duterte released official statement concerning approval of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) for Metro Manila and other areas in the country.
The approval of placing Metro Manila under the GCQ has been announced officially after the meeting of President Duterte with Inter-Agency Task Force on Emergency Infection Disease (IATF-EID) on Thursday night, May 28, 2020 while the rest of the areas not mention under the GCQ will be placed under the more relax modified GCQ.
The same report published by the Rappler.com stating that there are other parts of the country that will be on GCQ which include the following:
- Davao City
- Cagayan Valley
- Central Luzon
- Calabarzon
- Pangasinan
- Albay
The rest of the areas in the country not mention under the GCQ will be placed under MGCQ, the lowest form of community quarantine enforced by the authorities.
The implementation of the GCQ starting June 1 in Metro Manila was recommended by the IATF after the observation conducted by the authorities in particular areas which is also approved by the President.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is hoping that Metro Manila residents would abide the GCQ protocols.
