DOH: FDA Filed Cease and Desist Order Against Unregistered Fabunan

Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a cease and desist order against the Fabunan Antiviral Injections (FAI) that is supposedly a vaccine use to cure coronavirus disease that becomes COVID-19 pandemic.

As to recall, the Fabunan Antiviral Injection becomes the hot trending topic earlier in the month of April 2020 following after their video circulated on social media claiming that FAI has cured COVID-19 patient in Zambales.

Department of Health (DOH) said on Sunday they still have not applied for CPR the reason that FDA has issued a cease and desist order.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said, case was already build up against the Fabunan.

According to report, this issue arose after the Fabunan vaccine circulated anew on social media and was allegedly used again in a vaccine drive in Zambales.

Vergeire noted that the DOH conducted investigation and the case filed against Fabunan.

“FDA has jurisdiction when it comes to the unregistered drug/vaccine, and Professional Regulation Commission for the practice of medicine,” she said.

Similar report published by the GMA News saying that the DOH issued warning to the people since last month on April that people caught using the FAI drug shall face liability.

Vergeire explained that any drugs including the FAI that have not passed clinical trials and have not been registered with the FDA could not be allowed to be administered on people.

She added that the FDA or the DOH had nothing to do on the product since its manufacturers have not yet complied the requirements.
