Just In: Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake Hits Sarangani (Davao Occidental)

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded that Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake hits Sarangani (Davao Occidental). The time of impact is 09:35 PM on Sunday Evening, April 19, 2020.

PHIVOLCS also recorded the location of the quake, 03.97°N, 126.37°E – 190 km S 31° E of Sarangani (Davao Occidental) and the Depth of Focus (Km) is 057. There are no casualties that have been damage.

This is the usual scenario in the Philippines because we are under the Pacific Ring Of Fire where active and dormant volcanoes reside. The red dot represents the epicenter of the earthquake.

Phivolcs warned for possible aftershocks and other incidents that could harm people’s lives.

Intensity II – Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity I – Alabel and Kiamba, Sarangani; Koronadal City and Tupi, South Cotabato

Tsunami is also the greatest threat after the quake as the wave moves backward from the seashore and produces a gigantic wave that has a strong power to crush its path.
