MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia Tested Positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Undersecretary Jojo Garcia is tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), confirmed by DZBB Super Radyo on Saturday Morning (March 28, 2020).  

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia says he has been on self-quarantine since last week. He says this is because he came in close contact with a COVID-19-positive individual during one of his meetings. 

“I wish to inform everyone that I will have to work from home as I have been found positive for COVID-19.” “My work puts me under a lot of risk, and this is part of it. I embrace this challenge with full trust and faith in God that I will overcome the same with your prayers,” the MMDA official said in a separate statement. 

He added also, “Yung huling natatandaan ko na na-expose ako ay March 17 or 18 yata ‘yun.”“Wala naman ako masyadong nararamdaman, kaunting cough lamang.” According to Reuters, the total number of infections for mainland China now stands at 81,394, with the death toll rising by 3 to 3,295. 

DOH recorded COVID-19 has infected 803 people in the Philippines, with 54 death and 31 recovered.
