DOH Denies “VIP Testing” to Officials Due to Lack of COVID-19 Test Kits

The Department of Health (DOH) explained their side that about the ‘VIP testing’. According to them, they do not do “VIP testing” amid the test kits for the COVID-19 crisis.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that those officials were qualified to take the COVID-19 test. Also, those people that were identified as a person under investigation (PUI) are being taken care of.

Based on an interview on Dobol B sa News 5, Health Undersecretary Vergeire assured the public that all persons under investigation are being taken good care of she said, “Gusto ko lang linawin, hindi napapabayaan ‘yung ating PUIs. Lahat naman inaasikaso,”

She added, “Yun pong mga sinasabi nilang na-test na mga high level officials, most of them pumasok sa criteria namin. May exposure sila, nakapag-travel sila so they were tested,”

Based on a report from DOH, On Monday, there is a total of 462 confirmed cases of coronavirus. And the fatalities increases to 33, however, 18 fatalities had recovered from the disease.

Senator Francis Tolentino also apologized for undergoing a test for COVID-19. According to him, he was exposed to a person who tested positive for coronavirus disease and that he developed mild symptoms.

Recently, on Twitter, the “no VIP testing” was trending after some netizens pointed out that big personalities and public figures had undergone the COVID-19 first instead of those who are persons under monitoring (PUM) and the health workers.
