The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) report that the magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits Agoncillo (Batangas) at 11:39:34 PM on Monday evening, January 14, 2020.

The earthquake intensity 3 is also felt nearby towns in Intensity III – Tagaytay City, Intensity II – Malabon City,

Instrumental Intensity:

  • Intensity III – Tagaytay City
  • in Tagaytay City and intensity 2 in Quezon City

The volcano remains under Alert Level 4, which means a “hazardous” eruption is possible “within hours to days.”

The location is 13.95°N, 120.88°E – 006 km N 74° W of Agoncillo (Batangas) where the Depth of Focus (Km) is 010 with the Origin “Tectonic.”

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is a service institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) that is principally mandated to mitigate disasters that may arise from volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunami and other related geotectonic phenomena.
