Is This Alarming? Chinese Patient Suspected of Coronavirus in PH Dies in San Lazaro Hospital

The 29-year-old Chinese patient admitted in San Lazaro Hospital who was suspected of Wuhan coronavirus died Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020.

According to Director Edmundo Lopez of San Lazaro Hospital, the man was admitted Monday, and based on their initial screening and laboratory tests, the patient is positive of HIV.

Lopez noted that the patient was thin and there are several lesions in addition to their “lung findings.”

The hospital will still conduct further investigation to the Chinese man who died in their hospital to confirm the HIV as the cause of death and no other suspicion.

Similar report from CNN confirming that the cause of death to the Chinese patient is due to pneumonia. Authorities had yet to confirm if the death of the Chinese patient has no case issue relating to the suspicious 2019 coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed the 23 people under observation and under monitoring status in their respective local health facilities for suspected coronavirus or known as the 2019-nCoV. Four (4) out of the 23 patients have been already released earlier.
