The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) and NDRRMC announce a 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Tulunan (Cotabato) on Thursday, October 17, 2019, around 11:05:52 PM.

The location is 06.87°N, 125.03°E – 022 km N 85° E of Tulunan (Cotabato) and the Depth of Focus (KM) is 013 with the Origin “Tectonic.”

Intensity IV – Koronadal City
Intensity III – Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity II – Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity I – Alabel, Sarangani; Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental

This is an aftershock of the October 16,2019 M6.3 Cotabato Event

PHIVOLCS is the service institute of the DOST for monitoring and mitigation of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunami.

According to Phivolcs, “We cannot predict when or where an earthquake will happen. There is no reliable technology in the world that can confidently predict the date, time and location of large earthquakes. Please avoid sharing any messages that could cause panic and fear.”
