PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa leads “Spot Checking” to Protect Bus Commuters in Metro Manila

Manila, Philippines – Within two months, PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa in his post recorded many achievements and one of these is the war against illegal drugs that he and President Rodrigo Duterte has promised the Filipino citizens last June.

Many drug users and pushers surrendered themselves to the Police officials when “Oplan Tokhang” was implemented and resulted in the decrease of crime rate in the Philippines.

Another project was launched recently by de la Rosa and his PNP staff and officials to protect commuters on board from potential hold uppers and snatchers.  Many police based in Metro Manila have been instructed to check public buses plying from Caloocan to Pasay via EDSA.

There are at least 80 shifts a day and police are assigned to get in the bus 24/7 to ensure the passengers’ safety which gives a big sigh of relief for thousands of bus commuters in Metro Manila and especially for those who are working in graveyard shifts.

several reports from bus incidents are reported almost every day – holdups and robbery in the past but few suspects are arrested.  Now that spot checking campaign now going on, riding in the bus in Metro Manila is definitely more safe and relaxing.
