Hidilyn Diaz: Olympic Silver Medalist Receives P1.5 million from House of Representatives

Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz receives another recognition and with cash incentives from the House of Representatives for winning a silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Diaz was invited for a visit at the Kamara de Representantes (House of Representatives) last Wednesday, August 24, 2016, and received a gold plated Congressional Medal of Distinction and a plaque.

She was also given a cash incentive of P1.5 million which will be deducted from the salary of the congressmen for the month. Employees and even members of the lower House cheered at Diaz who brought silver medal the Philippines in the Olympics for almost two decades.

The Zamboanguena weightlifter was also given a recognition and was honored by the Senate last August 17, 2016, led by Senate Committee on Sports Chairman Manny Pacquiao, where the 8-division boxing champion rewarded Diaz with an undisclosed amount cash incentive in his office.

Hidilyn’s cash incentives as an Olympic silver medalist have already reached up to P10 million and is expected to grow by millions more.
