Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa spend time with his whole family in Boracay Island.

General Bato as he is fondly called wanted to take a break after the two-day Senate hearing on extra-judicial killings of war against illegal drugs last week.

Despite the tight security, Gen. Bato dubbed as the coolest PNP chief in history became an instant celebrity when Aklan locals and tourists take a time to take pictures and even selfies with him. Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) chief Police Inspector Jess Baylon confirm his being a celebrity in Boracay.

Last Thursday, August 25, 2016, Gen. Bato reportedly was visiting the city provincial and regional offices in the Visayas region. Before going to Boracay, Gen. Bato was invited as a special guest to the Leader’s Convergence of PNP Patrol 2030 in Iloilo city and it was a side trip for him to have a time out in Boracay Island.

He led the take-over ceremony for the new acting regional director of Police Office 18 of Negros Island Region, Police Chief Supt. Renato Gumban after Police Chief Supt. Conrado Capa retired.
