Roxas-Robredo Camp Violates Comelec Rule By Using ‘Daang Matuwid’ As Nickname In The Official Ballot

Gregorio Larrazabal, a former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner asked a very hot question to oxas and Robredo’s use of “Daang Matuwid” as their pet name in the official ballot to be used in the coming election for this coming election.

Gregorio Larrazabal being the ledal counsel fo the Nationalist People’s Coalition has stated and has shared his deepest concern that it should have not allowed to put the “Daang Matuwid” to their names as it is not their real nicknames. This can cause a lot to in the said election.

He stated, “If you read the rules, the nickname to be used by the candidates is limited to ‘one nickname or stage name by which aspirant is generally or popularly known in their locality.’ A campaign slogan is not a nickname,” He even said and explained the rule given in the Section 4 of Comelec Resolution number 9984,

He further explains, “At the start of the OAV a lot of people contacted me, asking about the ballot face. They were wondering why ‘Daang Matuwid’ was included in the name of some candidates and asked me if it was allowed. I looked at the rules. Comelec only allowed the use of nicknames and ‘Daang Matuwid’ is not a nickname. I told them the candidates are supposed to be allowed to use only their nicknames.”
