The Davao City Proud, Mia Meagey Niñura won the first gold medal in the secondary girls of 3,000-meter event, she is only 16! The event of athletics category of the 2016 Palarong Pambansa is now happening!
The 16-year-old girl who is a trackster had controlled over the 3,000-meter competition and had finally defeated his long-time rival, Jian Calis who is a NMRAA’s 3-time gold medalist Jian Calis.
Niñura was interviewed by the press and told everyone that his inspiration was her parents afer all. She stated, “Kahit nag-iisa po ako, naghihirap pa rin po ang pamilya ko,” the only child of a farmer and a housewife said.”
He is representing the Davao Region and now Ninura is on her 6th stint in the Palarong Pambansa. It may be her first gold but she already brought her two silvers in the 2014 Palaro in Laguna and in 2015 in the Tagum City. She will also be competing in 800- and 1,500-meter events.
