MMFF Awards 2014 announces Best Actress Jennylyn Mercado & Best Actor Derek Ramsay

The 40th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards 2014 night, in Best Actress goes to Actress Jennylyn Mercado with the best actor is Derek Ramsay in their romantic-comedy movie “English Only, Please” which was one of the winners in MMFF 2014.

The romantic-comedy film “English Only, Please” also take home the award of Best Director (Dan Villegas), Best Screenplay (Antoinette Jadaone), Best Original Story (Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone) and Best Editing, held last Saturday night, Dec. 27, 2014.

However, the film “Bonfacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” won the Best Picture award while “English Only, Please” take it second best picture.

In an interview after the awarding cerenomy, the GMA-7 actress said: “Ako, wala akong in-expect na kahit ano. Ang sa akin lang, ang wish ko lang, lumabas yung mga tao pagkatapos panoorin yung pelikula namin ng nakangiti.”

“Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng opportunity na makagawa ng isang comedy project. So, proud ako kasi ito yung unang-una kong comedy” she added.

Mercado is hoping for another romantic comedy films in 2015 after the successful of “English Only, Please”, she was enjoyed.

The best actor Derek Ramsay was not able to attend in the big night but it was Jennylyn  Mercado read his speech for him.
