The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announces on Wednesday, June 5, 2014 that of its establishment in Manila, Philippines, the “Mandarin Oriental Manila Hotel” will be closing its door this year.

Mandarin Oriental Manila hotel has been in operation for almost 40-year. Since the time of its opening in 1976 as Manila’s pre-eminent hotel, the Mandarin Oriental Manila hotel was recognized as one of the iconic hotels in the country. During the said closure, the management of the said establishment had already made announcement to all colleagues and issued public notice informing the fans and supporters for the forthcoming closure.

Mandarin Oriental Manila hotel general manager Torsten van Dullemen told reporters saying: “Mandarin Oriental, Manila has been recognized as one of the city’s most iconic hotels since its opening in 1976, and the Group wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all colleagues for their legendary service and support over the years. All hotel colleagues have been informed of the forthcoming closure and will receive full and fair severance payment and appropriate professional guidance,” he said.

According to the report, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has entered into contract that the group will be managing a new luxury hotel in Makati City which will open in 2020. In connection to this, the management has assured to all fans and supporters of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group that they need not despair, for it is just a temporary termination of service.

The new Mandarin Oriental, Manila is located within Makati City. It is scheduled to open in 2020. The said establishment is developed and owned by Ayala Land Hotels & Resorts. The new Mandarin Oriental, Manila featuring 275 rooms and new amenities. The hotel is being positioned as one of the leading luxury hotels in the Philippine capital.
