Arab Employer Pours Boiling Water on Pinay Worker “Fatma” -Video

“Fatma” (not real name) is appealing for help in connection to the horrific burns she is suffering on her body after her Arab employer doused her with boiling water.

FatmaThe photo of the 23-year-old Filipina household service worker (HSW) from Pikit, North Cotabato showing the burns that almost covered her entire back portion and legs were posted by her cousin on Facebook last Saturday, May 17, 2014. The said photo has made a round on the internet and goes viral after posting on Facebook by which, many of the netizens have expressed support and prayer for her.

According to Fatma, she had been working for about 2-months under the Arab family. She also said that she was not given regular meal and she was not yet paid.

“Yong mga tirang mga pagkain nila, sabi ng amo kong matanda, itapon ko daw. Ang ginagawa ko lang po, hindi ko itinatapon, iniipon ko, para kung magutom po ako sa pagtatrabaho ko, `yun po ang kinakain ko,” she told ABS-CBN News.

Fatma also narrated that one time on May 4, 2014, she said that the mother of her employer got angry with her since she could not response immediately her request for a coffee. She immediately grabbed the thermos and poured boiling water on her.

According to the report, Fatma did not given first aide treatment and it took several hours before she was brought to the hospital for proper treatment.

While she was under treatment on the hospital, on her third day treatment, she was able to give secretly to the nurse a piece of paper with the phone number of her older sister in the Philippines that gives connection back to the nurse and give the contact number of her relatives in Riyadh.

When her employer brought Fatma back to the hospital for follow up treatment, Fatma’s cousin was able to rescue her.

Fatma is having children ages 11-months and 4-year old left in the country. She is now appealing for help to file a case against her abusive employer.

“Please lang po tulungan n’yo ako. Tulungan n’yo po akong makasuhan yong mga amo ko…. Kasi sobrang hirap po `yung ginawa nila sa akin,” she said.

Fatma is now in the custody of the Assistance to Nationals section of the Philippines embassy. She is safe and provided with proper foods and other basic needs.
