Smart Gilas Coach Chot Reyes Named Its 16 Man Line Up for FIBA World Championship

Smart Gilas Head Coach Chot Reyes currently named its 16 man line up in preparation for FIBA World Championship and 2014 South East Asian (SEA) Games.

smart gilasHe already prepared his line up for the upcoming prestigious FIBA tournament which will be held is Spain this year. Prior to its 12 team basketball members, those chosen players came from different basketball team in the PBA ( Philippine Basketball Association).

The veteran coach added Paul Lee, Marco Lassiter, Jared Dillinger and the rookie Greg Slaughter to its GILAS basketball. The original of the team were Jimmy Alapag, LA Tenorio, Jeff Chan, June Mar Fajardo, Larry Fonacier, Garry David, Japhet Aguilar, Gabe Norwood, Jason Castro Williams, Yancee De Ocampo, Marc Pingris and Filipino Naturalized Marcus Douthit.

The whole Gilas coaching staff are waiting for the update of recruiting the NBA player Andre Blatche playing for Brooklyn Nets only the approval of the Congress is needed for the formal naturalization of Blatche to be a Filipino citizen.

Coach Chot is thankful for the full cooperation the support given to them by the PBA and the PBA board of Governors and also acknowledge them for letting him name the list of his team for the upcoming FIBA championship. He also take his opportunity to thank PBA and its management for the partnership and continual trust to the national team.

The Philippine Team is under Group A together with Argentina, Croatia, Greece, Puerto Rico and Senegal.

Last year during the FIBA qualifying tournament Philippines received a Silver Medal finished at second place automatically qualified in FIBA 2014.

The 5 time PBA coach of the year was once an assistant coach of Tim Cone during the early 90’s of under Alaska Milkmen.
