Roxanne Cabanero Acosta is the name of the woman filed charges against the comedian actor and TV host Vhong Navarro. According to her lawyer Atty. Virgillio Batalla the complaint of Roxanne Cabanero Acosta against Vhong Navarro was already filed at the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at around 4:00 p.m.

In an interview with Kabayan Noli de Castro on Radio DZMM on Thursday morning February 20, 2014, Atty. Virgillio Batalla told host Kabayan Noli about the portion of his client’s testimony when Roxanne Cabanero Acosta came to his office to bring about the matter.

“Sa ngayon po alam naman natin na 2010 (naganap yung pangyayari) sa hurisdiksyon ng Pasig. Ngunit uulitin ko, Kabayan, sana ay maintindihan niyo bilang abogado we don’t have the liberty to divulge everything without the consent of our client,” Atty. Batalla said.

When Atty. Batalla was asked by Kabayan Noli de Castro, why his client only filed the case at this time against Vhong Navarro since the alleged incident was happened last 2010.

“Ang kasong inihain tulad ng cliente ko ay may 20 years na prescription at kadalasang kasong nire-resolba ng ating Korte Superma ay ipinayl ng biktima na matagal na panahon. So this is natural for a victim sa kasong tulad ng kaso ni Roxanne na matagalan bago mag-file.” Added Atty. Batalla.

“Naitanong namin yan ng preliminaries namin at ang sagot niya ay ngayon lang kami nagkaroon ng lakas na loob dahil may lumabas na kaso si Deniece laban kay Vhong,” said Batalla referring to the case filed by model Deniece Cornejo against Navarro last January 29.

Atty. Batalla revealed that his client Roxanne Cabañero Acosta came to his office to ask for help five days after the case of Navarro-Cornejo burst out. He also added that their help to Acosta would be an example to some other people who were also a victim of the same case but afraid to come to court for assistance.

“Inaasahan din namin na itong kasong ito ay magbibigay ng daan na namolestiya kung sinuman na natatakot lumabas di lang kay Vhong in general po ito. Kahit sino po ang namolestiya ito kasi ay private crime na walang testigo sa bawat ganitong kaso. Ang ibig kong sabihin ang mga babae sa simula pa lang biktima na. Kapag nagta-trial biktima na, so itong kasong ito ang magbibigay daan upang ang mga tao katulad sa aming kliyente ay pwedeng lumabas kahit ang kanilang kalaban ay sinasabing malakas,” he said.

Asked if he believes that Vhong Navarro is influential and powerful person, Atty. Batalla replied to admit that Navarro is powerful and influential person since he is a celebrity icon compare to his client who made complaint against him.

He also clarifies that at this moment he does not know yet about the rumored on the internet about the allegation that his client Roxanne Cabañero Acosta and Cedric Lee are friends.

“Wala po tayong impormasyon na ibinigay sa atin ng aking kliyente nung siya ay dumulog sa aming opisina upang humingi ng tulong,” the lawyer said.

Atty. Batalla admitted that his client joined several beauty pageants including Ms. Resorts World 2010 and Miss Bikini Philippines.
