The American singer Rex Smith who made insult of Charice Pempengco on stage Tuesday during her rehearsal in Cebu City have visited the country for the purpose of a benefit concert for the victims of the super typhoon Yolanda in Visayas region.

Most of Filipinos especially the Filipino netizens pay interest to know about Rex Smith after he was reportedly made insult of a Filipino singer Charice Pempengco in Cebu City while the Glee star singer made rehearsal for the upcoming concert.

The visiting American singer Rex Smith made his name became controversial after the insulting incident against Charice Pempengco. People got interest of knowing him after the international singing sensation Charice Pempengco revealed to the media that she was insulted by him.

Prior to his singing career that made his name become popular in music industry with his hit singles, to name a few includes “Simply Jesse” and “You Take My Breathe Away”. Rex Smith is a former Broadway star on the year 1978. He is also a notable TV star in 1985 TV series entitled Street Hawk. During his early age in show business he gained popularity and become a teen idol being featured regularly in 19 Magazines and Tiger Beat.

The 58-year-old Rex Smith was also a former member of the renowned Phaedra Band in 1970 as lead vocalist. After that he joined other band in the United States in 1976.

Rex Smith is married to a model named “Jamie” but their relationships ended up to unreasonable divorce with two children. In 1998, Rex Smith re-married with Courtney Schrage in which they also have two children.

His latest album was released sometime in the year 2000 entitled “Simply…Rex.” It was again released in 2006 and re titled “You Take My Breath Away.”

The name “Rex Smith” becomes controversial after insulting Charice Pempengco. He has visited in the country for a pre-Valentine benefit Concert in Cebu City. The concert was dubbed as “Love Overload 2” which was held in one of the most prestigious hotel in the city at Victorial Hall of Cebu Parklane International Hotel on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.
