Bobet Vidanes’ departure from It’s Showtime is complicated, and it has to do with operating the ABS-CBN noontime show that he directed.
Since It’s Showtime was first broadcast in 2009, Bobet has been the show’s director and originator.
LOL is a noontime blocktime show on TV5 that debuted in October 2020.
LOL debuted in November 2020, and Bobet surprisingly relocated here as a creative producer a month later.
Before the topic of his departure was broached in an interview with Bobet on Monday, the first topic of conversation was about him being a member of LOL.
“Sa programa, ano po, e. Siyempre, nakatayo na siya, e. May base na sila,” Bobet said.
He continued,
“So, observe muna ako. Yun ang aking unang adjustment.
“Observe lang ako, and then kung ano yung bagay sa concept na naumpisahan nila, nagdagdag lang ako ng konti.
“So, maliit na adjustment lang ang ginawa ko dahil may magagaling na tao po na nagtayo nung programa.
“Para naman sa sarili ko, ang malaking-malaking adjustment na naramdaman ko dito, e, napaka-less nung pressure. Sobra.
Pressured in ratings?
“Hindi po. Hindi po,” Bobet replied
With regard to the workload? What about the program itself?
Bobet was startled for a minute before confessing that he was relieved to be moving to LOL after the difficult experience on It’s Showtime.
“Ahhmm… I don’t know, pero ang naramdaman ko kasi talaga, parang hindi na nila ako kailangan doon.
“Toxic na, e!”
