Leyte’s representative for the fourth district declared himself in favor of the proposed charter change.

He has received numerous nominations and awards throughout history.

He married Lucy Torres, an artist who eventually entered politics, in 1998.

He is now the 4th district representative for Leyte. Before to it, from 2016 until 2022, he was the mayor of Ormoc.

The  neophyte solon stated that it was time to modify the Constitution in an interview given on Monday, July 4, at the House of Representatives’ orientation of new members.

Richard Gomez stated, “Parang kotse yan eh ang lumang kotse kailangan inaayos na yung mga spare parts pinapalitan na.” 

Rep. Aurelio Gonzales of Pampanga had already submitted a resolution to modify the Philippine Constitution.

His plan calls for the President’s existing six-year administration to be reduced to five years, with the option to run for political office again when it expires.

Gonzales stated that his proposal will not favor President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Based on Article VII, Section 4 of the 1987 constitution, the President and the Vice-President “shall be elected by direct vote of the people for a term of six years which shall begin at noon on the thirtieth day of June next following the day of the election and shall end at noon of the same date, six years thereafter. The President shall not be eligible for any re-election.”
