Marcos faced criticism when a viral “bêlat” image went viral, and her friend revealed why.
The reported viral image of President Bongbong Marcos’ wife was captured at his inauguration on June 30. PBBM, his wife, and their children were on stage. Liza may be seen staring at the audience and sticking her tongue out.
According to the PEP story, this attracted criticism from writer/director/actor Manny Castaeda. Manny stated that this was unacceptable and that the First Lady must know how to behave herself appropriately as the President’s wife.
Many individuals will surely observe every action of the new first family, as occurred at the inauguration when the First Lady was recorded performing an unexpected gesture.
“Making faces with the crowd/friends, disgusting. We all know she is an Araneta pero bakit parang wala syang breeding?” the entertainment celebrity asked. He also questioned Liza Araneta-Marcos’s attire during the inauguration.
The explanation behind it all was described by entertainment journalist Joe Barrameda, a personal friend of the First Lady. He claimed Liza was as plain as she had always been before her husband was elected to the presidency.
According to the journalist, the Marcoses had not yet realized they became now the First Family. “Yung mga tao doon, parang mga sosyalerang fans. May mga kaibigan siya na parang kinakantiyawan siya. Nag-cheer sa kanya,” Barrameda explained.
That’s when Liza made the “bêlat” gesture, which was captured on camera and got attention.
