Angel Locsin, an actress and philanthropist who has been an active supporter of Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential candidacy, decided not to wear a campaign shirt when distributing relief supplies to typhoon victims so that the efforts would not be politicized.
This was Locsin’s answer to a fan who was concerned that images taken in Palo, Leyte—including one in which she is seen shaking hands with Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa while wearing a “Sara All” shirt—might be used in misinformation to claim Locsin no longer supports Robredo.
Sara is the running partner for Robredo’s opponent, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
A fan of the actress, especially Locsin and Dela Rosa, tweeted: “Ang nakakatakot lang gamitin nila yon picture as fake news… na BBM na si Angel Locsin sana nakasuot ng pink t-shirt si Angel.” (“The only scary thing is that they use that picture as fake news….. that BBM Angel Locsin would have been wearing a pink t-shirt.”)
“Hello! Hindi po talaga ako nagsuot ng pink or campaign shirt para hindi po mahaluan ng pulitika ang pagbibigay ng relief goods… lablablab lang po tayo dahil ang kailangan naman po ng mga affected ng landslide ay magtulungan tayo” Angel answered.
Early this week, Locsin personally handed relief packages to families evacuated by Typhoon Agaton. Her husband, film producer Neil Arce, joined her. Palo and Baybay were two of their stops.
During that time, she also campaigned for Robredo and her running partner, Senator Kiko Pangilinan. In fact, the tandem’s campaign hashtag was included in her social media posts that featured the images.
