Vice Ganda, a comedian whose seven straight Phenomenal Box Office Star awards testifies to his success in the industry, reached a point where he wanted to drop many projects due to exhaustion and, as he now admits, despair.
When questioned about pop artist Sarah Geronimo’s recent emotional breakdown on “It’s Showtime,” the “It’s Showtime” presenter made a revealing confession regarding his own mental health.
“I actually experienced the same thing just recently,” he told ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe. “Na-depress ako. I underwent depression. I actually had to meet a doctor, and asked for professional help. Hindi ako nakakatulog, nagkakaroon ako ng anxiety attack. May mga atake sa akin, na nahihirapan ako magtrabaho.”
As Vice shares his experience of his mental and emotional breakdown, he can’t sleep easily, which leads him into depression and anxiety attacks. Due to his experience, his work is affected because he cannot focus.
In an interview on Wednesday, Vice Ganda claimed that his own struggle with the ailment drove him to contact the management of his mother network, ABS-CBN, about temporarily leaving showbiz.
