UAAP Season 83 was the supposed to be the 2020–21 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season will be hosted by the De La Salle University.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) announced Friday, December 11, the cancellation of Season 83 due to COVID-19.

“After a series of discussions, the UAAP board of trustees came to this difficult decision, putting major consideration on the health and safety of the student-athletes and those involved in the operations of our competitions,” the league said in press statement.

“The decision will allow UAAP member-schools to plan their activities for the remainder of the academic year, as well as their athletic programs for next season,” it added.

If there is a time for the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine in April 2021, UAAP was still considering a new season.

According to the Board of Trustees and Board of Managing Directors, they will further discuss the implications of the cancellation for the guidance of the member-schools and student-athletes.
