Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin did not hesitate to admit that he tested positive for the COVID-19 disease.

According to the news published by the abc.net.au the 54-year-old told President Vladimir Putin that he is temporarily stepping down until he can fully recover from the disease.

During the televised meeting with President Putin, Mr. Mishustin inform him that the result of the coronavirus testing turned positive.

“I have found out that the coronavirus tests I had done returned with a positive result,” said Mr Mishustin.

Mr. Mishustin who is one of the coordinators for Russia’s response is one of more than 106,498 COVID-19 cases in Russia with recorded 1,073 death toll according to the www.worldometers.info  as of writing.

Mr. Mishustin suggested that during his absence of duty, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov to act as prime minister in his behalf.

After learning of this news, President Putin wished for Mr. Mishustin past recovery and confirmed the proposed replacement.

“What is happening to you can happen to anyone,” Mr Putin replied.
