Engr. Alfredrick Gayoma: Replied Phrase “Engineer naman yang anak mo, ba’t di bumili ng bahay yan”

Young professional engineer expressed sentiment on social media in Twitter to reply about a phrase one of his neighbors told his mom.

Engineer naman yang anak mo, ba’t di bumili ng bahay yan,” phrase of the person said.

Engr. Alfredrick Gayoma took his Twitter account and post his reply. In his Twitter post, he posted a message just seems to be a joke but a reply to the phrase one of his neighbor told his mom. He explained that he has been working for a year compare to these people spreading gossip for 30 years and why they don’t have their own television talk show.

Engr. Alfredrick Gayoma graduated Cum Laude from one of the most popular school in the country, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). He passed licensure in the field of profession of Electronic and Communications Engineering (ECE) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and he is currently engaged in work as a Technical Support Engineer.

According to Engr. Gayoma he can hear this kind of toxicity oftentimes from the neighboring folks but he also said that the same scenario told to his mom. He said he did not make any reaction as he don’t want to argue with the people who have no idea of his struggles.

“One of my neighbors told this to my Mom as is if they really know the struggle of young professionals starting to build up their careers,” he replied to one of DailyPedia’s questions.

I learned to get through with it almost every day and live up my life hoping that there will be a bright future ahead.”

When asked about to what level of struggles he has experienced in life. In reply to the question he narrated his personal story how he survived. He said he started from scratch and they live with his family in the slums.

“We used to live on the slum areas of Quezon City and every day is really a day of looking how to fill our tummies and at the same time, to be able to continue my studies,” he said.

He added that finishing his board exams was just a beginning to a hundreds of thousands steps of his journey. He admitted that he was burnt-out and stressed about how to earn money to help his family earn a good living. In addition to this, he said that he learned important lessons in life-living making him more smarter in dealing more clever with every challenges in life. With this issue, he said he need to step back and go at his own pace. He considered every experience is a good learning that makes him realized that all things contributed for betterment where he is right now.

“I started to work my ass off and ignore all the expectations of other people and trust my own pace. At least right now, I was able to remove my family from our previous house and currently live on a much better-rented apartment. Paying all of the bills. Just right after the new year, I realized that I have done great on the first of my career, I looked around on the things I have invested and we are living on a much better state right now,”

He also gives advice to the people who kept on hearing unrealistic expectations and don’t really understand how hard life could be:

“Nourish and feed yourself rather than feeding other people’s expectation, may it be your neighbors or even your relatives. Trust your own pace and don’t burn yourself out on thinking how you’ll be able to speed up your career and fortune. ‘WAG MAINGGIT’ because you are splendidly doing your own story. Stop living up for other people, and start living to quench your own thirst. Learn to ignore the outside environment and start, wholeheartedly, obeying what’s on your heart. Let your own pace and success answer the demand of other people. And whenever you feel unappreciated because you are being compared to others, always remember that there are people, that includes me, who will trust you and believes in what you can do.”
