Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy and four others were charged with rape, child abuse and forced labor by a former member of the ruling Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC). The Davao City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday ordered Quiboloy and Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Pauline Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes to respond to the complaint of 22-year-old Blenda Sanchez Portugal within 10 days.

At the press briefing, Atty. Isarelito Torreon, Quiboloy’s legal counsel, said the woman’s accusations were baseless. Quiboloy filed a libel lawsuit against the woman in October 2010.

According to Torreon, a warrant of arrest was issued against Portugal in April 2019. The woman allegedly used a dummy account on social media to harass Quiboloy. According to the pastor’s camp, it is possible that someone else is behind it to topple the prominent religious leader.
