A stolen incident took place in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The alledged two Airport Screening Officers invloved were identified as Nievel Gorpe and Reinelle Alvarez were reportedly responsible on the said incident.
According to the police report, the CCTV footage shows the Taiwanese passenger identified as Cheng Chun Shu who put his two (2) hand-carry bags to pass on the X-ray for screening. Shu notices that the screening officer open his bags and took something from them and concealed in pocket. Shu also added that the other airport screener took a pack of cigarette from his bag.
Shu did not examine his bag due to the fact that he is in a hurry. But when he counted his money in the plane, he found out that it was lacking to the amount of USD2,600 or P137,000 pesos.

The NAIA management invistigated the incident. During the investigation, one among the two airport screening officers, Alvarez admitted that he received $100 from the other screening officer but insisted he did not know where the money came from.
The police investigation found out that the two aiport screeners violated the standard operating precedure as they searched and open the Taiwanees bags without his permission. According to the Office of for Transportation Security (OTS) the inspection must be accompanied by the NAIA personnel and must be in the presence of the owner.
Recently, Alvarez is in the police custody facing qualified theft and unjust vexation which filed by the airport police against him. According to the report, Gorpe denies the accusation and not even willing to return the $2,500 money.
