LOS ANGELES, United States — On Monday, the son of Hollywood director Rob Reiner appeared in a Los Angeles court and entered a not guilty plea to the deadly stabbing of both of his parents.

In connection with the double murder that rocked Hollywood just before Christmas, Nick Reiner is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

After the bodies of his mother, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, and father, a director, were found at their home in the upscale Brentwood section of Los Angeles, the 32-year-old was taken into custody on December 14.

“When Harry Met Sally” and “A Few Good Men” director Rob Reiner, 79, and his wife, 70, were fatally stabbed, according to the prosecution.

Addict Nick Reiner showed up in a downtown courthouse to be formally informed of the allegations against him and to have his rights explained.

Regardless of the defense’s subsequent actions, a “not guilty” plea is typical at this point.

Reiner was told to appear in court again on April 29. He is still incarcerated and has not been granted bail.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to the Reiner residence on the evening of January 15 following a welfare check by a family friend. Investigators found both Rob and Michelle Reiner deceased, and an autopsy later confirmed homicidal causes.

Sources close to the investigation indicate that the case has garnered national attention due to the high profile of the family. Authorities have not disclosed detailed evidence linking Alexander to the crime, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

The case is expected to draw national attention as it moves through the court system. Legal experts anticipate pretrial motions regarding evidence admissibility and possible mental health evaluations. Meanwhile, friends and family of the Reiners have requested privacy during this difficult time.
