Cortis was dubbed a “Friends of the NBA,” the league’s influencer and celebrity program in Asia, back in January.

According to an NBA press release from January after the appointment, CORTIS “will celebrate the intersection of sports and music” and “will attend NBA games and events, collaborate with the league on a variety of original content initiatives, co-develop NBA-branded apparel and merchandise, participate in the league’s promotional activities, and more.”

Cortis said they were thrilled to have accomplished the aforementioned feat.

“Joining the ‘Friends of the NBA’ is a milestone we didn’t imagine reaching so early in our career. As a group that strives to ‘color outside the lines,’ we see a natural connection between our music and the creative, boundary-pushing spirit of the NBA, and we aim to bring that same intensity to our music and performances,” the group stated.

With the release of their single “What You Want” from their debut extended play (EP), Color Outside the Lines, in August 2025, Cortis—which consists of James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho—made their debut under Big Hit Music.

When the EP was released on September 8, it sold about 250,000 copies on its first day, breaking the previous record for the biggest first-day sales of 2025 K-Pop groups.

Cortis just took up the Golden Disc Awards’ Rookie Artist of the Year title and the 2025 MAMA Awards’ Best New Artist title.
